Last year, the Detroit Lions won the division and the NFC’s one seed in a huge game against the Minnesota Vikings. While that one seed didn’t end up being as handy as you’d think in the playoffs, it was still one of the biggest regular season victories in franchise history.

That’s all just to say Week 18 can be vitally important. With the 2025 NFL schedule dropping on Wednesday, soon we will know who the Lions will close out their season with. The NFL has smartly ensured that every season finale will be a divisional matchup, which leads us to today’s Question of the Day:

Who do you want the Lions to play in Week 18 to close out the regular season?

My answer: First, let’s look back.

The Lions have finished the regular season at home against the Minnesota Vikings in back-to-back years. Prior to that, it was the Packers in back-to-back years (one home, one away). Going back to 2020, four of the Lions’ last five season finales have been at home. So by rule of “they’re due,” it certainly feels most likely that the Lions finish the season away against the Chicago Bears. Detroit hasn’t played Chicago in a regular season finale since 2015.

Now, in an ideal world, the Lions would host the Bears in the final week of the season. For one, they would avoid having to play on Soldier Field in January. Additionally, ending the season by bringing Ben Johnson back to an angry hoard of Detroit fans would be deliciously evil.

But given the Lions have had so many home regular season finales as of late, my prediction for the final game of the season is Lions at Bears. The game I want is Bears at Lions.

What game do you want to see to close out the 2025 regular season?
