After meeting with the 49ers, former Jaguars’ WR Gabe Davis is reportedly meeting with a second NFC team this week.<\/p>\n

After meeting with the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> earlier in the week, former Jacksonville Jaguars’<\/a> wide receiver Gabe Davis is now scheduled to meet with the New York Giants<\/a>, according to Jordan Schultz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Davis is quite familiar with GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll from the trio’s time in Buffalo together.<\/p>\n

The 2024 season was Davis’ only with the Jaguars<\/a> after signing a three-year, $39 million deal last offseason, which included $24 million guaranteed.<\/p>\n

A knee injury would limit Davis to only 10 games, and during that span, he caught just 20-of-42 passes for 239 yards at 12.0 yards per catch with two touchdowns, per PFF.<\/a><\/p>\n

The decision to move on from Davis was primarily twofold. For one, with Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington, the best-case scenario for Davis was that he was going to be the fifth receiver on the depth chart, and that’s a big contract to have on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Also, by moving on from Davis now, the Jaguars get a head start on getting out of his hefty deal that included $24 million guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Davis will leave behind a total dead cap hit of $20.3 million<\/a>.
