Mike Vrabel and company finally were able to utilize the asset Friday, but they chose not to pick at No. 77 overall. The Patriots <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/04\/patriots-trade-back-twice-select-more-drake-maye-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">traded back twice<\/a> \u2014 first from No. 77 to 85, then from No. 85 to No. 95 \u2014 before drafting Jared Wilson. So, with one chip, New England yielded a talented center, a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 fourth-rounder.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a pretty nice haul regardless of circumstance. But it looks even better when you consider the rebuilding Patriots\u2019 need for a center of the future as well as their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/44870808\/new-england-patriots-2025-nfl-draft-help-drake-maye\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reported view of Wilson.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to a team source, Wilson would have been a top consideration to pick at 77, but they still landed him 18 spots later and picked up a 2025 fifth-rounder (from Carolina) and 2026 fourth-rounder (from Kansas City) in some solid maneuvering considering Wilson was rated 45th on ESPN senior draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr.\u2019s big board,\u201d ESPN\u2019s Mike Reiss wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Patriots, coming off a larger draft class this year, are also stocked with 10 picks in next year\u2019s draft, with multiple selections in the fourth, sixth and seventh rounds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"nesn-in-content-ad__copy\">Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>By several notable accounts, New England put together <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/04\/how-espns-mel-kiper-jr-graded-patriots-2025-nfl-draft-haul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">one of the best draft classes<\/a> this year.
