SANTA CLARA \u2014 Brock Purdy<\/a> is back.<\/p>\n

Purdy will be in San Francisco’s starting lineup on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday during the taping of NBC Sports Bay Area’s “49ers Game Plan.”<\/p>\n

Shanahan said he sensed Purdy\u2019s confidence increasing last week during practices. Purdy missed the past six games due to turf toe<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat’s why we were really close to getting him up last week, but still thought it would help him for another week, and so did he,\u201d Shanahan said. \u201cThe way he was Monday, just watching him film with him, the way he was at Wednesday’s practice. And really (today) was the best. We were going full speed and everything. So he’s good to go, and it\u2019s good to get him back.\u201d<\/p>\n

He originally sustained the injury to the big toe on his right foot in the 49ers\u2019 season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks. He aggravated the condition in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.<\/p>\n

Mac Jones started eight of the 49ers’ first 10 games of the season, including the past six games. The 49ers were 5-3 with Jones<\/a> as the starter.<\/p>\n

Shanahan said Purdy was healthy enough to play last week against the Los Angeles Rams, but Jones had the full week of practice and was better-prepared to play.<\/p>\n

Shanahan said on Monday that he envisioned a week of \u201caggressive\u201d practices<\/a> for Purdy in order to return to the lineup. But after Thursday\u2019s practice, Shanahan said he saw enough to announce Purdy as the starter.<\/p>\n
