The Broncos have done this as a halftime show over the years, and it’s certainly a uniquely Colorado thing.

However, one portion of the video is catching people’s attention. Did the Broncos take a bit of a shot at former QB Russell Wilson when announcing the Giants as an opponent?

When the kid falls off, the announcer says: “Oh, a giant mistake. They are gonna regret that one.”

Several social media accounts noticed this, wondering if this is Denver’s way of saying that New York signing Wilson this offseason is a choice they’re going to wish they didn’t make.

🤔 pic.twitter.com/aZvDtYSZ2t

— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) May 15, 2025

Each kid falling off the sheep is themed to that team, so it could just be that the Giants will not like playing the Broncos. New York is projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Denver is coming off a 10-7 playoff season and many think they can challenge the Chiefs in the AFC West for the first time in a long time.

However, it’s hard to ignore that Wilson could face his former squad for the first time in Week 7 after he was hurt last year when the Steelers came to town.

And of course, the Broncos took on the largest dead salary cap in NFL history to cut Wilson last offseason. His one year in Denver in which he and head coach Sean Payton overlapped was clunky, including a sideline blowup from Payton on Wilson in Detroit.

The Broncos took on $53 million of the stunning $85 million dead cap hit in 2024, and will still have $32 million on the books in 2025. There’s not exactly a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings between Broncos Country and Wilson.

At this point, it looks like the 36-year-old Wilson is holding on for his NFL life, at least as a No. 1 QB. He did throw for 16 touchdowns and five interceptions with Pittsburgh last year, and 26 TDs and eight picks with the Broncos the year before that, but his mobility (or lack thereof) has become an issue.

Wilson took 90 sacks in two years in Denver, which drove Payton crazy in 2023, then 33 sacks with Pittsburgh in only 11 games a season ago.

And let’s be honest, these schedule release videos are supposed to be fun. So if the Broncos did indeed take a little jab at Wilson, it’s no big deal. Considering all the money they paid him for two mediocre years, it’s definitely fair game.

Follow @PetersenWill

The Denver Broncos released a fun video to announce their 2025 schedule on Wednesday night.
