New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was partying with a pair of teammates at a trendy Manhattan nightclub when things turned sour in a confrontation with a rowdy group of patrons \u2014 and left the player with a bullet in the gut<\/a>, law enforcement sources said Monday.<\/p>\n

Boyd, 29, was out on the town with Gang Green line backer Jamien Sherwood and wide receiver Irvin Charles at Sei Less Asian Fusion nightclub on West 38th Street early Sunday when a gang of wisecrackers began making fun of their fancy duds \u2014 making Boyd uneasy with the \u201cvibe\u201d,<\/a> according to sources.<\/p>\n

As the athletes made for the exits around 2 a.m. a scuffle broke out on the street outside and shots were fired \u2014 with one slug striking Boyd in the abdomen even as the crowd scrambled, the sources said. <\/p>\n

Wild video from the scene posted on X by Crime_In_ NYC<\/a> shows a mob of people in the street throwing punches when two shots ring out, sending everyone scrambling for cover.<\/p>\n

The cornerback was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable<\/a> condition but is now scheduled to be released as early as Monday. <\/p>\n

No one in Boyd\u2019s group was armed, the sources said. <\/p>\n

Among those with him were Charles, a 28-year-old wideout who joined the Jets in 2023, and is earning $1.03 million this year, according to the salary tracking site, spotrac.com.<\/p>\n

He is on the physically unable to perform list for the team.<\/p>\n

Sherwood, a 25-year-old Auburn University alum, is in his fifth season with the team and has a base salary of $2.5 million, the site said. <\/p>\n

Boyd, who came into the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and has played with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texas, joined the Jets before this season on a $1.6 million deal but has been on injured reserve since injuring his shoulder in August.<\/p>\n

The NYPD has not made an arrest in the shooting but released surveillance camera photos<\/a> of the suspected gunman.<\/p>\n

The sources said two high-end vehicles \u2014 a\u00a0BMW X6 SUV\u00a0and silver Mercedes-Benz Mayback \u2014 raced from the scene after the shots were fired, but it is not believed the suspect was in one of them. <\/p>\n

Kris Boyd has been an NFL wide receiver since 2019, and joined the Jets this year but was quickly injured. Facebook\/Kris Boyd<\/p>\n

Photos from the scene also show a Rhino GX, a luxury armored SUV manufactured by US Specialty Vehicles that sells for up to $300,000, parked outside the restaurant after police arrived.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the owners of Sei Less denied the club played any role in the violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe altercation involving Kris Boyd occurred outside our establishment and after the restaurant had closed,\u201d the statement said. \u201cSince the onset of the police investigation, we have been fully cooperative with law enforcement and shared the appropriate security footage to assist their inquiry. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of our customers and employees is of utmost importance and we take tremendous pride in having cultivated a safe and welcoming dining environment for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trei Less has been a popular Manhattan watering hole for years, and a favorite with hip hop stars and sports celebrities. <\/p>\n

Club founder Dara Mirjahangiry boasted on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d that troubled rapper Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs once bought everyone drinks for the house during one visit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the New York Jets did not comment Monday about Charles and Sherwood being at the scene with Boyd before he was shot. <\/p>\n

In a statement Sunday, a team rep said, \u201cWe are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n
