It\u2019s been well over a year since he was fired and Texas A&M<\/a> is still paying former head football coach Jimbo Fisher.<\/p>\n

Actually, they\u2019re not even close to done paying him. According to ESPN<\/a>, the Aggies will be paying Fisher $7.2 million annually until 2031.<\/p>\n

Those payments are a big part of why Texas A&M is far above any other public SEC program in terms of severance spending, according to reporting from AL.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The publication obtained financial reports for 15 conference schools through public records requests. The documents show that A&M spent $27.5 million on severance in the 2024 fiscal year, far outpacing Auburn in second place at $10.9 million. The covers the period from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Texas Longhorns are No. 3 on the list with their severance spending coming in at $7.2 million. However, unlike the Aggies, a majority of Texas\u2019 severance spending did not come from football. <\/p>\n
