According to one NFL insider, the Colts and Jonathan Taylor are not in contract talks at this time.<\/p>\n

Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> running back Jonathan Taylor is putting together an MVP-caliber season.<\/p>\n

However, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports<\/a>, “it’s crickets” when it comes to contract talks between Taylor and the Colts<\/a> — at least for now.<\/p>\n

“The Colts appear focused on this season rather than locking up these players mid-season for years to come, according to multiple sources,” wrote Jones. “It makes sense on several levels, including not fraying any nerves when talking about value during what is clearly a special season.”<\/p>\n

The Colts are taking a similar approach with Daniel Jones<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Taylor signed a three-year, $42 million extension during the 2023 season. He is still under contract through the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

Next year, Taylor has a base salary of $11.98 million<\/a> and a cap hit of $15.56 million.<\/p>\n

In terms of average annual contract value, at $14 million<\/a> per season currently, Taylor ranks fourth among all running backs.<\/p>\n

Taylor will enter Week 12 leading the NFL in rushing with 1,139 yards, and he’s also first in yards per rush at 6.0 on the season. Taylor’s 15 rushing touchdowns are the most as well.<\/p>\n
