The Carolina Panthers<\/a> have an outside chance at making the 2025 NFL playoffs, especially if the team beats the San Francisco 49ers on the road on Monday night.<\/p>\n

The 6-5 Panthers would have a 32-percent chance, per NFL.com<\/a>, of earning a spot in the NFC playoff field if they defeat the 49ers, but their chances would drop to 15-percent with a loss.<\/p>\n

Carolina is second in the NFC South behind the 6-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a>, but quarterback Baker Mayfield injuring his shoulder could shake things up a bit in the division. However, Carolina’s brutal schedule won’t help matters.<\/p>\n

The team still faces the 49ers, Buccaneers (twice), Los Angeles Rams<\/a>, Seattle Seahawks<\/a> and New Orleans Saints<\/a> (who beat Carolina in Charlotte) this season. While Carolina can rise to the occasion, a losing record isn’t off the table. How the Panthers navigate such a difficult stretch of games will determine its distant playoff chances.<\/p>\n

Carolina hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2017 season.
