{"id":55665,"date":"2025-05-16T20:48:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T20:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/55665\/"},"modified":"2025-05-16T20:48:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T20:48:09","slug":"jaguars-celebrate-national-volunteer-month-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/55665\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguars Celebrate &#8216;National Volunteer Month&#8217; in April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JACKSONVILLE &#8211; While Jaguars staff, players and coaches are relentlessly committed to building a better Jacksonville throughout the year, the team doubled down on that promise in April during National Volunteer Month.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the month, Jaguars front office staff dedicated more than 1,200 volunteer hours to local nonprofits addressing food insecurity and homelessness; beautifying neighborhoods; supporting children, families and animals; among other areas of need.<\/p>\n<p>The Jaguars Foundation partnered with several nonprofits including The Arc Jacksonville, Jacksonville Humane Society, Sulzbacher Center, Feeding Northeast Florida and others to provide 12 volunteer opportunities throughout the month. Some of the activities that volunteers participated in included planting sea oats and removing invasive vegetation from Jacksonville beaches, preparing garden beds for an urban farm, crafting enrichment toys for zoo animals, assembling care kits for homeless residents, and leading games for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout April, the Jaguars front office staff:<\/p>\n<p>Sorted 14,854 pounds of food\u202f<br \/>\nAssembled 700 care kits for the homeless\u202f<br \/>\nPlanted 1,675\u202fSea Oats and Bitter Panic Grass\u202f<br \/>\nCleaned 7,296\u202fpounds of laundry\u202f<br \/>\nRemoved 200\u202fpounds of invasive plants\u202f<br \/>\nMade 460 sandwiches\u202f<br \/>\nAssembled 4\u202fgarden beds\u202f<br \/>\nWalked 90 dogs\u202f<br \/>\nFramed 1 home completely &amp; wrapped another\u202f<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, 15 percent of the total volunteer hours conducted by Jaguars staff were spent volunteering during their personal time at places of worship, serving on boards of local nonprofits, mentoring youth, or coaching community sports.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;National Volunteer Month set the stage for coordinated opportunities to give back to the community and highlight the volunteer leadership that our team contributes during their personal time as well.
