{"id":558231,"date":"2025-11-27T10:45:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/558231\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T10:45:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:45:16","slug":"marshawn-kneeland-dashcam-footage-reveals-frantic-scene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/558231\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshawn Kneeland dashcam footage reveals frantic scene"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a vehicle pursuit of the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 Marshawn Kneeland <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/22\/sports\/marshawn-kneeland-was-driving-over-145-mph-during-police-chase-before-death\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reached speeds of up to 160 mph<\/a>, a frantic search for the NFL player included Texas state troopers firing pepper balls into drainage tunnels and officers using K-9 dogs and a drone before he was found dead from suicide, bodycam and dashcam video show.<\/p>\n<p>New evidence also revealed that police put Catalina Mancera, Kneeland\u2019s girlfriend, in handcuffs and placed her in the back of a squad car before her release after they found her in a car registered to her late boyfriend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/crime\/2025\/11\/25\/search-for-dallas-cowboys-marshawn-kneeland-was-frantic-disjointed-footage-shows\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to the Dallas Morning News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kneeland, 24, was found dead in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/06\/sports\/marshawn-kneelands-cause-of-death-ruled-a-suicide-after-police-chase\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">early hours of Nov. 6<\/a> of what police said was an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, hours after being pursued by officers who had attempted a traffic stop in suburban Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>Dashcam footage of the pursuit of Marshawn Kneeland has been released. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>At first, authorities didn\u2019t know the driver they were pursuing the evening of Nov. 5 was Kneeland, initially believing the car had been stolen.<\/p>\n<p>After the driver abandoned the vehicle after a crash, authorities learned during their hours-long search that the suspect was Kneeland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/06\/sports\/girlfriend-was-convinced-armed-marshawn-kneeland-would-end-it-all-disturbing-police-audio-reveals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">His family and friends feared he was going to hurt himself<\/a> as he had sent messages telling them goodbye. <\/p>\n<p>They had frantically reached out to authorities to locate him.<\/p>\n<p>A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety, or DPS, began chasing Kneeland, who was driving a Dodge Charger northbound on the Dallas North Tollway at 10:33 p.m. on Nov. 5, according to an offense report the agency released Friday through an open records request.<\/p>\n<p>The trooper said Kneeland\u2019s vehicle reached speeds higher than 145 mph (233 kph), but other troopers in body camera footage released by DPS said they believed the chase reached speeds of up to 160 mph (258 kph).<\/p>\n<p>The trooper lost the Charger, but it was later found around 10:42 p.m. after it had crashed with a Ford F-350 truck and ended up in a grassy area beside the tollway in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>The site is near an office park area with office buildings, businesses and apartments.<\/p>\n<p>An unidentified woman whose truck was hit by Kneeland\u2019s Charger was distraught as she stood beside her damaged vehicle, according to body camera footage.<\/p>\n<p>Marshawn Kneeland (r) and his girlfriend, Catalina (l). I was like Oh my God, he\u2019s not stopping and then he just plowed into me,\u201d she told a trooper in footage that was also released Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers said the Charger was abandoned but they found an empty holster inside, leading them to believe the driver was armed.<\/p>\n<p>At this point in the search, troopers and officers didn\u2019t know who the suspect was, initially believing the vehicle might have been stolen.<\/p>\n<p>During the search at the office park area, one trooper flagged down a man driving a car who indicated he had seen the suspect run off through a field.<\/p>\n<p>The footage captured a frantic scene. Texas Department of Public Safety<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake me back where you saw him,\u201d the trooper told the driver before jumping into the man\u2019s vehicle. But the suspect was no longer in the field.<\/p>\n<p>At around 11:20 p.m., DPS troopers and Frisco police department officers were searching for Kneeland in a nearby wooded area and a series of drainage tunnels under a sidewalk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrisco K-9. If you\u2019re in this tunnel, I\u2019m going to send my dog in here. He is going to bite you. This is your last opportunity,\u201d the Frisco officer said.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities later fired pepper balls into the tunnels and sent a drone into them, but did not find Kneeland inside.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>By around 1 a.m. on Nov. 6, authorities had learned the driver of the Charger was Kneeland, and they had briefly detained but not charged Mancera.<\/p>\n<p>She had driven to the scene of the search area but initially hadn\u2019t told authorities of her connection to Kneeland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe girlfriend has his location. But she\u2019s not giving it to us \u2026 \u201cShe\u2019s like, \u2018He\u2019s going to kill himself. I can\u2019t tell you where he\u2019s at,&#8217;\u201d a Frisco police officer said. Instagram \/ @szn.stitches<\/p>\n<p>Mancera attempted to call Kneeland and his agent while with the police, per the Dallas Morning News.<\/p>\n<p>In other footage, law enforcement officers, while searching an area, discussed that he was an NFL player and that he had been texting goodbye to family members.<\/p>\n<p>About 30 minutes later, the search ended. Kneeland\u2019s body was located inside a portable toilet.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on Facebook, Mancera said Monday she still thinks that Kneeland will walk through their front door.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy sweet boy is really gone. The things that I would do just to hold you one more time and tell you how much you mean to me. But now I have you to watch over me and wait for me on the other side.
