Young superstar quarterback Bryce Underwood<\/a> has had a strong freshman campaign for the Michigan<\/a> Wolverines, as expected. Through 11 games, Underwood boasts 2,166 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions. He\u2019s also rushed for 322 yards and five more touchdowns on the ground.<\/p>\n

In his first season as Michigan\u2018s quarterback, Underwood has led the program to a 9-2 (7-1) record. With its fifth consecutive win over Ohio State<\/a> on Saturday, the Wolverines could be right in the thick of College Football Playoff conversations.<\/p>\n

NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay raved about Underwood on the latest edition of \u2018The McShay Show<\/a>\u2018, comparing him to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like I watched a lot of (Bryce Underwood) early in the season,\u201d McShay said. \u201cWe watched that Oklahoma<\/a> game and a couple other games, but I haven\u2019t really circled back. Michigan has kinda been on the outside looking in and we\u2019ve had all these other quarterbacks in all these discussions. So let\u2019s go to it with Bryce Underwood, the super talented freshman sensation at Michigan. Let\u2019s start with the positives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Todd McShay compares Bryce Underwood to Josh Allen<\/p>\n

\u201cMy goodness, that guy is talented. He is big, he looks the part, the ball explodes off his hand, and he can drill the ball into spots better than almost everyone. It just fires off of his hand. He\u2019s mobile, he\u2019s strong, and he can break tackles. There are flashes in his game, and I\u2019m starting to see more than just flashes. When he\u2019s confident in where he\u2019s going with the football, he can absolutely just drill it in there. And it looks beautiful. It looks like Josh Allen. It just does.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Underwood hasn\u2019t surpassed the 300-plus yard passing mark in a game this season, he hasn\u2019t needed to for the team to succeed. Michigan ranks second in the Big Ten in rush yards per game (223.5 YPG) even without star running back Justice Haynes<\/a>, meaning that he is playing his role in the offense perfectly. This can certainly carry over to an NFL career, which McShay believes Underwood could definitely enjoy.<\/p>\n

Underwood will face his toughest challenge of the season on Saturday against No. 1 Ohio State<\/a> in his first start in \u2018The Game\u2019.
