One of the Broncos\u2019 prized free agent additions is set to miss time during the club\u2019s offseason program but avoided a potentially more serious injury.<\/p>\n

Linebacker Dre Greenlaw, signed to a three-year deal in March, injured his quadriceps working out recently and is expected to miss a matter of weeks, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Denver Post on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Greenlaw\u2019s injury is considered a strain, the source said, and while he will spend a chunk of the offseason rehabilitating he is not expected to need surgery.<\/p>\n

Greenlaw, 28, played just 34 snaps in 2024 for San Francisco after tearing his Achilles tendon in the 49ers\u2019 Super Bowl appearance that February.<\/p>\n

He came back for two games in mid-December, but then a calf injury cost him the final games of San Francisco\u2019s season. Still, the 49ers tried hard to keep him from signing with another team this spring, even flying coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch to his Texas home to try to convince him not to sign with Denver<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The veteran inside linebacker is going to be counted on to help shore up the middle of the Broncos\u2019 defense<\/a>. The injury is not expected to impact his status for the 2025 regular season.<\/p>\n

The Broncos are currently in a strength- and conditioning-only phase of their offseason program and the veterans will continue on that path for another month before organized team activities start in late May.<\/p>\n

After two weeks of OTAs, the club\u2019s mandatory minicamp is set for June 10-12.<\/p>\n

Greenlaw in March signed a three-year deal worth up to $31.5 million that comes with $11.5 million guaranteed in 2025. His deal does not have guaranteed money up front beyond the first year of the pact.<\/p>\n
