The first offseason for New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn<\/a> and general manager Darren Mougey has been a breath of fresh air.<\/p>\n

There’s been no drama, and the franchise has plucked several solid players in free agency, most notably Justin Fields. Then, it added some nice pieces in the draft: Armand Membou to fortify the right side of the offensive line, tight end Mason Taylor, and then\u00a0Azareye’h Thomas.<\/p>\n

So, one can say with some assurance that it has been a successful-ish offseason for Glenn and Co. as they look to lay down a rock-solid foundation to build from.<\/p>\n

And for PFF’s Trevor Sikkema, he’s given the franchise a B Grade for their work.<\/p>\n

“Aaron Glenn’s hiring was a win, and so is leaning into Justin Fields as the starting quarterback, with the Jets knowing they were likely going to be a run-heavy team as they work out the passing weapons beyond Garrett Wilson \u2014 the only Jets receiver to earn a PFF receiving grade above 63.5 in 2024 outside of Davante Adams, who is no longer there,” Sikkema writes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“New York lost D.J. Reed and Morgan Moses but drafted Armand Membou and Azareye’h Thomas to replace them. The team doesn\u2019t have playoff-level talent, but it was a good offseason of turnover for them.”<\/p>\n

The Jets have moved in silence this offseason, which, as we know, is by design, as Glenn wants to keep the main thing, the main thing.<\/p>\n

Fields as the figurehead of the offense is seen as a win-win for New York, and defensively, they still have some nice pieces to work with, most notably, Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner.<\/p>\n

It won’t be a quick fix, but the Jets have been slowly making ground to get the franchise to a level where they think they can consistently compete.<\/p>\n

We hear you, a down hasn’t even been played yet, but this offseason work has been done in such a manner that fans can see a small sliver of positivity after two years of drama-filled offseasons.<\/p>\n

The foundation for the Aaron Glenn era has been built.<\/p>\n
