Will UDFA Landon Parker Make the Indianapolis Colts\u2019 53-Man Roster?

Landon Parker came from a sports family. His father, Daren, played for the Denver Broncos<\/a>. His mother, Stephanie, played volleyball at South Carolina while his brother, Austin, played football at Duke. Parker starred at Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. During his senior year, he caught 54 passes for 1,210 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also punted and returned kicks.<\/p>\n Parker began his college career at Wofford University. He caught 60 passes for 1,183 yards and six touchdowns in 31 games with the Terriers. He also averaged 19.7 yards per catch during his career. In addition, he averaged 43.6 yards on 45 career punts.<\/p>\n After two seasons at Wofford, Parker transferred to Troy in 2023. He had eight catches for 128 yards during his first season with the Trojans. He caught 27 passes for 350 yards last season.<\/p>\n Making the Roster Will Be Difficult Indy isn\u2019t in desperate need of another wide receiver. The team has a solid WR room, led by Michael Pittman, Jr.<\/a>, Josh Downs<\/a>, and Alec Pierce<\/a>. Each of those players had over 800 receiving yards in 2024. Pierce led the way with 824 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had a league-leading 22.3 yards per catch.<\/p>\n Adonai Mitchell, who the Colts took in the second round of the 2024 draft, didn\u2019t have an amazing rookie year. The former Texas Longhorn had just 312 yards and zero touchdowns. Yet, it\u2019s way too early to give up<\/a> on him.<\/p>\n The Colts\u2019 wide receiver room also includes Ashton Dulin and second-year player Anthony Gould<\/a>. With six receivers on the team, it will be challenging for Parker to make the 53-man roster. Destin Adams<\/a> of AtoZ Sports thinks he\u2019ll have to spend a year on the practice squad:<\/p>\n \u201cParker\u2019s athletic profile is exciting, though, and I\u2019m sure it played a significant role in the Colts\u2019 choosing to bring him into training camp to get a closer look at him. And if they can help him figure out how to use his athleticism to his advantage, he could become a massive steal for the team. But I think he would probably have to spend at least a year on the team\u2019s practice squad developing before he gets the chance to ever step foot on an NFL field for the regular season.\u201d<\/p>\n That sounds about right. Expect Landon Parker to be on the practice squad. But don\u2019t look for him to make the Colts roster.
