The Indianapolis Colts<\/a> are exploring all their quarterback options, including Philip Rivers.<\/p>\n

But if everything falls apart in their Week 15 game, the guy that ends up playing QB may be rookie tight end Tyler Warren.<\/p>\n

Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed to reporters on Monday that Warren will be the team’s emergency quarterback for the week ahead.<\/p>\n

“Shane Steichen said if injury to right knee keeps Riley Leonard out, Brett Rypien would start at Seattle,” beat reporter Mike Chappel wrote on X<\/a>. “Another QB undoubtedly will be signed with Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson on IR. Rookie TE Tyler Warren is the emergency QB and Colts getting to that emergency level.”<\/p>\n

Warren was a quarterback in high school. He also threw the ball occasionally in college at Penn State.<\/p>\n

He was 3-for-6 for 35 yards and a touchdown in his final season with the Nittany Lions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And oh yeah, he’s a lefty:<\/p>\n

The Colts clearly don’t want to get to this point.<\/p>\n

Leonard could still be healthy enough to play. Rypien (or maybe Rivers) could get through the whole game unscathed.<\/p>\n

But in a wild scenario, Warren could end up playing QB. And there’s certainly an intrigued part of the brain that wants to see that happen.<\/p>\n
