Whether he stays or goes, Kalen DeBoer has the support of an Alabama legend.<\/p>\n

During an appearance on ESPN\u2019s \u201cCollege GameDay\u201d on Friday ahead of Alabama\u2019s College Football Playoff game against Oklahoma, Nick Saban made it clear that his former program will \u201ccomplete support\u201d DeBoer.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say one thing, Kalen DeBoer has the total and complete support of the University of Alabama,\u201d Saban said<\/a>. \u201cThey want him to be the coach of Alabama. Maybe they [the fans] can get him to Michigan. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saban\u2019s comments come as Michigan is reportedly eyeing the Crimson Tide head coach as a replacement for Sherrone Moore<\/a>, according to ESPN\u2019s Pete Thamel.<\/p>\n

\u201cSources tell me that Michigan officials remain convinced that they want to attempt to hire Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer,\u201d Thamel said on the broadcast. \u201cThe result of tonight\u2019s game is going to factor heavily into that pursuit, as an Alabama loss would make the logistics of attempting to hire DeBoer much more tenable.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeBoer, however, has previously insisted<\/a> that he plans to stay at Alabama despite the rumors, saying in a statement Sunday that he has \u201cno interest\u201d in another job.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have not spoken and have no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job,\u201d DeBoer said in a\u00a0statement\u00a0released through Yea Alabama, the school\u2019s NIL collective. \u201cI am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Thamel, the Wolverines are also having discussions with Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham, Missouri\u2019s Eli Drinkwitz and Jedd Fisch, who is at the helm of Washington.<\/p>\n

In the midst of Moore\u2019s firing from Michigan<\/a> after the school said it found he had an \u201cinappropriate relationship\u201d with a staffer, Saban said the new head coach of the Wolverines needs to be a leader for players both on and off the football field.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want character, integrity and someone who is going to set a great example for the players and provide the leadership to help them be more successful in their life, not just in football,\u201d Saban said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Whether he stays or goes, Kalen DeBoer has the support of an Alabama legend.
