AP<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey relinquished his play-calling duties in Ann Arbor after just one season amid the scandal surrounding the program\u2019s disgraced former skipper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could not be happier to have the opportunity to work with Eli Drinkwitz in Columbia,\u201d Lindsey said Sunday in a Missouri release. \u201cWhat Coach Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou over that past six years is remarkable. You couple that with the commitment the University of Missouri has made to the football program, this is one of the most attractive coordinator jobs in the country. The commitment and infrastructure in place from an organizational standpoint and the talent on the field is truly exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moore was fired and subsequently taken into custody on Dec. 10 after the university found evidence that he had <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/10\/sports\/michigan-fires-sherrone-moore-for-inappropriate-relationship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">engaged in a years-long affair with a staff member<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old father of three was soon charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking in a domestic relationship, and breaking and entering.<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was fired and arrested after the university found evidence of his inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Jeff Kowalsky\/ZUMA \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey leaves behind the Big Ten\u2019s 11th best scoring offense (27.6 points per game) under his play-calling, compared to 14th (22.0) the year before his arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Before his quick stint with the Wolverines, Lindsey was the OC at North Carolina, UCF, Auburn, Arizona State, and Southern Miss \u2014 also serving as Troy\u2019s head coach from 2019-21.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Lindsey] does a tremendous job of not only coaching and developing players but organizing and implementing the offense,\u201d Drinkwitz said in a statement. \u201cHe is an excellent offensive mind with a wide range of experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former UCF offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is expected to take over the same role at Michigan next season.  TNS<\/p>\n<p>Lindsey takes the play-calling reins from Kirby Moore, who is set to become the next head coach of Washington State.<\/p>\n<p>In Ann Arbor, Michigan will elevate co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Steve Casula to OC ahead of its Citrus Bowl matchup with Texas on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolverines (9\u20133, 4th Big Ten) will be led by interim head coach Biff Poggi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Another football coach has left Ann Arbor \u2014 this one, by his own accord.
