(KCTV) &#8211; Fans of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/clark-hunt-makes-stadium-announcement-letter-chiefs-kingdom\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/clark-hunt-makes-stadium-announcement-letter-chiefs-kingdom\/\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> expressed mixed emotions after learning the NFL team planned to build a new $3 billion domed stadium in Kansas by 2031.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/chiefs-announce-historic-move-across-state-lines-kansas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/chiefs-announce-historic-move-across-state-lines-kansas\/\">Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly<\/a> announced the stadium will be built in Wyandotte County. The Chiefs will also construct their new headquarters and training facility in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/chiefs-name-olathe-home-headquarters-training-facility-entertainment-hub\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/chiefs-name-olathe-home-headquarters-training-facility-entertainment-hub\/\">Olathe<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMan, sounds exciting,\u201d one fan said, while another added, \u201cI\u2019m kind of mixed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sharon Smith, a Chiefs fan, said she thinks \u201cit would be good for the Kansas economy\u201d but acknowledged the emotional difficulty of leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/sad-day-former-kansas-city-chiefs-linebacker-reacts-kansas-move\/?utm_source=taboola&amp;utm_medium=organicclicks&amp;tbref=hp\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kctv5.com\/2025\/12\/22\/sad-day-former-kansas-city-chiefs-linebacker-reacts-kansas-move\/?utm_source=taboola&amp;utm_medium=organicclicks&amp;tbref=hp\">Arrowhead Stadium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cArrowhead has been there since the beginning and it would be kind of sad,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Other fans raised questions about the practical aspects of the move, particularly regarding traffic and congestion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLogistically, I don\u2019t know how it would work. I think it might be a little congested and overwhelming, more so than it already is,\u201d said Heather Salmon, a Chiefs fan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lawmakers had previously considered the Legends area as a potential site for the new stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Despite concerns about change, fans expressed loyalty to the team regardless of location.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cChiefs fans are going to go where the chiefs are. But it will be different,\u201d one fan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chiefs owner, Clark Hunt emphasized that the team\u2019s iconic atmosphere comes from the fans, not the stadium itself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI think it will be different. But it could be better. But I think it\u2019s going to take a while to build,\u201d another fan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After years of speculation surrounding the team and a possible jump across the state line, many fans said they were relieved that a decision had finally been made about the team\u2019s future home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCTV.
