Gov. David Toland told reporters, &#8220;It&#8217;s about 18 months of design and then construction is a three-year period.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Kansas Gov. Docking State Office Building on Monday, Dec. 22.<\/p>\n<p>The Dec. 22 announcement event in Topeka \u2014 the first major public use of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cjonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/government\/2025\/10\/31\/newly-rebuilt-docking-state-office-building-opens-in-downtown-topeka\/86984119007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:new meeting space at the rebuilt Docking State Office Building;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">new meeting space at the rebuilt Docking State Office Building<\/a> \u2014 featured a Chiefs jersey with the number 31.<\/p>\n<p>Toland said 31 represented the year the new stadium will open.<\/p>\n<p>Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt: &#8216;Our fans will still be the loudest in the NFL&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s announcement ensures that for generations to come,&#8221; said Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt. &#8220;Chiefs fans will have the best game day experience in the entire national football, that our children and grandchildren will have a place for their own unforgettable moments.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And I promise you this, we&#8217;ll do everything we can to bring trophies home to Kansas, beginning with the 2031 season. The location of Chiefs games will change, but some things won&#8217;t change. Our fans will still be the loudest in the NFL.
