Is anyone else weirdly confident that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to beat the Buffalo Bills today?<\/p>\n
OK, so, I typed that sentence right before I checked the latest betting odds on the game. The Birds are back to being 2.5-point underdogs after previous line movement had the Bills favored by just 1.5 points. Now I\u2019m second-guessing my prediction a little more.<\/p>\n
Still, I feel like this is a matchup the Eagles can win. Josh Allen is hard to contain but it feels like Vic Fangio can be trusted to come up with a plan to limit him. The Eagles really just need to not let the Bills\u2019 rushing attack bully them. If Allen has to pass all game long, you\u2019ll take your chances with the Eagles\u2019 secondary against Buffalo\u2019s lackluster pass-catching group.<\/p>\n
The Eagles\u2019 offense is still a question mark. Perhaps I\u2019ve been lulled into a false sense of security after two good performance against some of the NFL\u2019s worst teams. On paper, though, there\u2019s reason to believe Saquon Barkley (and Tank Bigsby) can get going against a Bills run defense that\u2019s allowed the second-most rushing yards per attempt this season. I also think Jalen Hurts will relish going up against one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.<\/p>\n
Special teams could be a big factor for the second week in a row, especially given the cold and rainy conditions forecasted for this 4:25 PM kickoff. Jake Elliott might not be the only kicker who misses a kick in this game; the Bills are down to their third option in Michael Badgley.<\/p>\n
An Eagles win in this spot could be a really nice confidence-boosting shot in the arm ahead of the playoffs. Not to mention it also keeps the Birds alive for the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture.<\/p>\n
A loss won\u2019t be the end of the world, especially if the team plays well but just gets barely edged out by the Bills. But if the Birds lose because the offense absolutely stinks up the joint, well, that would be discouraging.<\/p>\n
I think the Eagles do enough to pull off the upset.<\/p>\n
