Mike Salk<\/a> \u2013 Brock and Salk (6-10 a.m. weekdays)<\/p>\n This Seahawks defense is incredible. And it needed to be in Carolina because the offense was\u2026 not.<\/p>\n We may not have come up with a catchy nickname for this defensive group yet, but they sure play well enough to deserve one. To say they shut down Carolina quarterback Bryce Young would be an understatement. He had no time to even look downfield, let alone complete a pass more than 10 yards from the line of scrimmage. He went 14 for 24 for 54 (!) yards, and his longest completion of the game was for just eight yards. When he got rid of it quickly, the receiver was smacked and dropped right away. When he held on to the ball longer, he was either sacked or picked. It was truly suffocating.<\/p>\n Let\u2019s hope this game just declared itself as a sloppy defensive struggle, because the offense sure had its issues. It was good enough in Carolina. But one would think it will have to be a lot cleaner next week in San Francisco and beyond.<\/p>\n Mike Lefko<\/a> \u2013 Wyman and Bob (2-7 p.m. weekdays)<\/p>\n The Seahawks\u2019 defense continues to play at an elite level and once again proved itself capable of almost single-handedly beating teams. The Panthers had just 65 yards of offense in the first half and scored their only points in that opening half after a Seahawks fumble gave them the ball in scoring position.<\/p>\n That effort helped offset another shaky start for the offense. It has become a somewhat problematic trend over these last five games, but once again the offense found enough to put together two key touchdown drives in the second half.<\/p>\n Tight end A.J. Barner has emerged as a vital secondary receiving option, and his 16-yard reception on third-and-9 kept the drive alive for the Seahawks to score their first TD and get the breathing room the defense needed to stifle the Panthers\u2019 offense and put the game away.<\/p>\n A franchise-tying 13 wins in a season and a chance to win the No. 1 seed next week.
