On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> cut ties with the veteran cornerback, allowing him to hit waivers ahead of the final week of the regular season.<\/p>\n

For the Cowboys, it was a cost-cutting move after a failed season. For Diggs, he gets an opportunity to keep playing for a potential contender.<\/p>\n

Do the Philadelphia Eagles Make Sense for Diggs?<\/p>\n

Looking at the potential suitors for the star cornerback, Bleacher Report\u2019s Joseph Zucker considered<\/a> the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> as one of the three top landing spots for the former Cowboy.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo stone can be left unturned in the pursuit of a second straight Super Bowl title, though,\u201d Zucker wrote, discussing the Eagles. \u201cPhilly would be a great fit for Diggs as well. Whatever success the Eagles enjoy in the playoffs would boost his value if he winds up in free agency this offseason. The Eagles’ depth at cornerback means he wouldn’t be shouldered with too much responsibility, either.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier in the season, the Eagles were known to be in the market for a cornerback. Before the trade deadline kicked in, the Eagles struck a deal to land Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>. Not even two weeks later, he stepped away from the game.<\/p>\n

The Eagles reportedly put in a waiver claim on their old friend Darius Slay, who was let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>. Unfortunately, they were blocked by the Buffalo Bills<\/a>, who got him one spot before them.<\/p>\n

Since the Eagles went hunting for help at the position, their secondary has stepped up. Adoree Jackson, who struggled early on, has settled in and proved he belongs on the field.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have been one of the best defensive units in the NFL. They certainly aren\u2019t desperate for Diggs, but they are always a name to keep an eye on when it comes to low-risk, high-reward veterans becoming available.<\/p>\n

This year, Diggs has appeared in eight games for the Cowboys. He has 25 tackles, zero interceptions, and zero pass deflections.
