The Green Bay Packers claimed cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.Diggs, a former All-Pro, is coming off a torn ACL and has seen his production decline.The Packers assume the remainder of Diggs’ contract, but it contains no guaranteed money after this season.<\/p>\n

GREEN BAY \u2013 Micah Parsons won\u2019t be on the field again this season, but the Green Bay Packers<\/a> claimed one of his closest friends.<\/p>\n

The Packers<\/a> added cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. The claim is a low-risk decision from general manager Brian Gutekunst, who is banking on a potentially high upside.<\/p>\n

Diggs was one of the NFL\u2019s best cornerbacks early in his career, selected first-team All-Pro in his second season with 11 interceptions in 2021. That year coincided with Parsons\u2019 rookie season, and together they molded the Cowboys defense into solid group that punched a playoff ticket.<\/p>\n

A year later, Diggs earned his second Pro Bowl nod with three interceptions. Diggs signed a five-year, $97 million extension in the summer before the 2023 season but tore his ACL in a September practice that year, and his production declined after the injury.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys eventually released Diggs this week. Diggs has played only eight games this season and does not have an interception. He had two interceptions in 11 games last season. According to Pro Football Reference, opposing quarterbacks have a perfect 158.3 passer rating on 20 targets against Diggs this season.<\/p>\n

The Packers<\/a> assume the remainder of Diggs’ contract with the claim, but it remains a low-risk move. There is no guaranteed money from the extension left on Diggs’ contract after this season, meaning the Packers could release him after the season and not owe him more money.<\/p>\n

Diggs has a $14.5 million salary in 2026, but it’s not guaranteed.<\/p>\n

While Parsons is out for the season after tearing his ACL earlier this month, the Packers figured to be a top contender to claim Diggs. Parsons posted this on X:<\/p>\n

With Diggs, the Packers are hoping to upgrade a cornerback position that has struggled to be consistent, especially after Parsons\u2019 departure significantly diminished the pass rush. There\u2019s no guarantee Diggs can recapture the stellar play from early in his career, but the chance of being stickier in coverage on the perimeter is worth the claim.<\/p>\n
