In 8 playoff games since the 2022 season, Hurts is 148 of 213 (69.5%) with 1555 yards, 9 TDs and 1 INT, with 70 rushes for 342 yards and 10 rushing TDs. He was arguably the best player on the field during the Super Bowl the Eagles lost following the 2022 season and he is the reigning Super Bowl MVP. He has twice gotten hot during playoff runs. Hurts is only 27 years old, and he has more playoff wins than any of the starting quarterbacks on teams that have already either clinched a playoff berth in the NFC, or that are still in playoff contention. Jalen Hurts: 6, Matthew Stafford: 5, Brock Purdy: 4, Baker Mayfield: 2, Jordan Love: 1, Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young: 0. Is he the best quarterback in the NFC playoffs? In my opinion, no. But we have seen him do big things in the playoffs… twice… in the last three seasons. On a side note, as we have noted throughout the season, my understanding is that Hurts does not love when there are a lot of designed quarterback runs in the game plan, despite their effectiveness. In the playoffs, he should be more willing to run it, and the Eagles’ staff more willing to call QB runs.

Is there any reason to believe Eagles’ offense can find itself in postseason? – NBCSP
But there’s no margin for error right now. The defense is going into every game against good teams knowing that they have to be almost perfect to make up for an offense that we just saw gain 16 yards after halftime in Buffalo. The offense hasn’t gotten better, hasn’t grown, hasn’t progressed. It’s actually worse now than the first few weeks of the season. They’ve tried week after week to fix it and they’ve failed. So how can we expect them to miraculously fix it now, 18 weeks into the season? You can get away with elite defense and hapless offense against the Commanders or Raiders or Giants. Not against the teams they could face in the postseason. Since 1961, the Eagles are 2-18 in the postseason when they score fewer than 20 points, with the wins coming in the conference semifinal round against the Falcons in 2017 – think Jalen Mills on Julio Jones on the final play – and the wild-card game Chicago in 2018 – think Double Doink. So, yeah, maybe they can steal a 17-13 wild-card win and conceivably a 15-12 squeaker in the second round. But the only goal for this team all year has been to get back to the Super Bowl and win another one. And with this offense, this hapless, plodding, bumbling offense, that’s just not going to happen.

Eagles will rest Jalen Hurts and most starters in Week 18 – BGN
The Eagles have already clinched a playoff spot, and while the No. 2 and No. 3 seed is still up for grabs, it looks like head coach Nick Sirianni will opt to give his players a manufactured bye week. And both have happened in the same season. Philadelphia’s 2-point stand in Buffalo was yet another example of how the Eagles have tested the strain of a fifth-ranked defense in terms of total EPA. The Eagles have secured nine halftime leads this season but have been outscored by 30 total points in those games. Coach Nick Sirianni and Patullo deny their second-half approach is conservative, which highlights the inefficiencies of an offensive system that is purportedly on the attack. The “first-down thing” is a problem for the Eagles. They own a subpar EPA per first-down play (-0.02) when compared to the average NFL team (0.01), and their 4.9 yards per first-down play are also below average (5.5). It certainly did not benefit the Eagles against the Bills when they averaged 1.2 yards on their seven first-down plays. But the more pronounced issue is their lack of second-and-long production in this season’s system relative to their own history. The Eagles experienced almost the same number of second-and-long situations (8 yards or more) per drive in 2025 (0.99) as they did in their previous four seasons under four play callers. Given the 2025 offense’s overall regression, a downtick in second-and-long production would be expected. In more of a plunge than a downtick, this season’s second-and-long results most often alternate between detrimental and disastrous.

2025 NFL All-Rookie team: Best first-year players by position – ESPN
Jihaad Campbell, Philadelphia Eagles. 2025 stats: 70 tackles, 2 passes defensed, 2 run stuffs. It’s a little tricky to give a first-team nod to Campbell, who was pretty resoundingly removed from the starting lineup once Nakobe Dean returned from injury and regained his old form. From Weeks 12 to 15, Campbell played 26 total defensive snaps. But his film is still pretty good. And now that Dean is hurt again, Campbell is back to a full menu of snaps. Campbell makes bad rookie mistakes against misdirection and in coverage, but his peak plays of explosive speed, stopping power and turnover creation are a sight to see. He just ekes out the first-team selection ahead of the second-team picks below.

Young Eagles star admits he could retire sooner than expected — but this must happen first – NJ.com
Jordan Mailata approaches his relationship with each rookie differently. The only other player to log meaningful snaps at right tackle this year was Fred Johnson, who finished as the lowest-graded offensive lineman on the Eagles’ roster. Sustaining one of the league’s most important units requires proactive investment. Adding depth and identifying a long-term answer on the offensive line should be a priority this offseason, a need reflected in the PFF Mock Draft Simulator, where Eagles fans are frequently selecting Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane with the team’s top pick. While questions about his length could push him inside to guard or center at the NFL level, his performance this season points to a future pro regardless of position. The team wasn’t exactly on stable ground heading into the playoffs that year but got it right at the needed time. So, you never know.
