The first and arguably most important thing they have to do in the new year is a hire a head coach. We have been covering the head coaching search since Brian Callahan was fired in October. That will really ramp up next week when they are able to start the actual interview process for the job.

Hopefully, they will cast a wide net and bring in a bunch of guys to interview for the job. There have been a lot of names floated out there over the last few months. Hopefully, Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi go in with an open mind and find the best guy to lead this team into the next phase with Cam Ward under center.

After the decision is made, the staff that the new head coach is going to assemble will take center stage. If they hire a defensive head coach, who can he bring in as his offensive coordinator? If it is an offensive guy, does he entertain keeping Denard Wilson as the defensive coordinator? If not, how deep is his list of potential candidates?

After the staff is assembled, Borgonzi will move on to deciding which guys who are impending free agents he will try to retain. Wes Wisely posted the full list of those guys here. Chig Okonkwo should be the first guy he tries to work out a new contract with.

Then, he will move on to free agents from other teams. The Titans are projected to have over $105 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap. That is before they cut anyone currently under contract. Cutting guys like Calvin Ridley and L’Jarius Sneed will free up more than $20 million in cap space.

The last big point of the offseason will be the 2026 NFL Draft. The Titans will most likely have a top-5 pick. Do they use that to add a playmaker for Ward? Do they use it to get a dynamic EDGE rusher, or do they trade the pick to add more picks in the 2026 and future drafts?

It’s an exciting time to be a Titans fan. 2026 is going to be the start of the next great era of Titans’ football.

Happy New Year, everyone. 2026 is going to be a big year for the Tennessee Titans.
