When the Seattle Seahawks meet the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night in a winner-take-all showdown for the NFC West championship and No. 1 seed to the playoffs, Michael Bumpus<\/a> is looking for a surprising aspect of the Seahawks\u2019 team to make a big impact.<\/p>\n

The Reset: The reasons the Seahawks will beat the 49ers<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe front five, let\u2019s get going. This is your day to shine,\u201d Bumpus said, referring to the offensive line, on Wednesday\u2019s edition of Bump and Stacy on Seattle Sports.<\/p>\n

Bumpus isn\u2019t just hoping the Seahawks\u2019 O-line plays well against the 49ers. He has reason to believe it will be the case.<\/p>\n

For one, the Seahawks are coming off of back-to-back weeks with a 100-yard rusher, with Kenneth Walker III hitting the century mark against the Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 18, and fellow running back Zach Charbonnet going for 110 last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.<\/p>\n

But the other side of it is that the 49ers have not been much of a threat this year to pressure the quarterback with defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner, two perennial Pro Bowlers, both out of action due to injury. San Francisco is last in the NFL with just 18 sacks this season. It is also second-to-last in blitz percentage (18.3%) and third-to-last in pressure rate (16.7%).<\/p>\n

\u201c(Jalen) Sundell, Josh Jones, Abe Lucas, (Grey) Zabel, Anthony Bradford \u2013 it\u2019s your time to shine,\u201d Bumpus said. \u201c\u2026 I\u2019m watching the film, there\u2019s nothing dynamic about these dudes on that (49ers) defensive line.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Bumpus, a former NFL wide receiver who is now a broadcast analyst and host of the Seahawks Radio Network pregame and postgame shows, pointed out that the 49ers are a bit better at defending the run (26th in the NFL at 103.3 rushing yards allowed per game). But he believes confidence is growing for Seattle\u2019s offensive linemen with their last two games, and that will only help quarterback Sam Darnold gain confidence himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce the O-line gets some confidence, they feel like they can dominate these guys, then you get downhill and you start to go, can we go back-to-back-to-back weeks with a 100-yard rusher? That would be beautiful,\u201d he said. \u201cThe more I look at this tape, the more I look at this film, the more I believe that this offensive line can have themselves a day against the Niners. And if that is possible, if they do that, everything else is going to open up.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know what Sam looks like when he\u2019s confident back there, when he\u2019s getting to that back foot and boom, letting it go. \u2026 I want Sam to be confident, and how does he get confident? It starts with the big boys up front.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Seahawks take on the 49ers at 5 p.m. Saturday, with radio coverage on Seattle Sports<\/a> beginning at 2 p.m. with Bumpus and the rest of the pregame crew.<\/p>\n
