SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks sit 60 minutes away from their fourth-ever No. 1 overall NFC\u00a0seed, needing a win over the San Francisco 49ers to lock in the spot.<\/p>\n
This ultimate West\u00a0Coast battle features a red-hot Niners offense and stalwart Hawks defense. SF scored 100 points over the past two weeks, and Seattle cooled off a much-improved Carolina team last week.<\/p>\n
Seattle has only one win over San Francisco across the franchises’ last eight meetings: last year at Levi’s Stadium.<\/p>\n
The road has been the Seahawks’ haven this season, too, as they’ve taken six of seven contests away from home so far.<\/p>\n
“I think the great thing about this team is no matter where we are, no matter what the environment’s like,” Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold said.\u00a0“We’re going to go out there and play really good football, and we’re going to play complementary football, all three phases helping each other, and that’s it.”<\/p>\n
Darnold is turnover-prone this season with 10 since Week 11 (outnumbering his touchdowns), but he seems to always find ways to win, as seen especially in Seattle’s dramatic overtime Thursday Night Football win two weeks ago against Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
“The awesome thing about Sam is that he figures it out,” Seattle head coach Mike MacDonald said. “There’s going to be plays here and there, just like the rest of our team that we want to be better at, but the guy’s a problem solver. He’s a fighter, he’s a competitor, and he’s going to figure it out as the game goes on.”<\/p>\n
Seattle’s injury report lists wide receiver and return specialist Rasheed Shaheed as out of concussion protocol, but left tackle Charles Cross is out with a hamstring injury, and his backup, Josh Jones, remains questionable.<\/p>\n
