(WNDU) &#8211; Notre Dame is hiring Indianapolis Colts defensive line coach Charlie Partridge for the same position with the Fighting Irish, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ESPNRittenberg\/status\/2007203525852541134\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ESPNRittenberg\/status\/2007203525852541134\">according to ESPN\u2019s Adam Rittenberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Partridge will fill the defensive line coach vacancy left by Al Washington, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wndu.com\/2026\/01\/02\/reports-notre-dame-football-promotes-al-washington-linebackers-coach\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wndu.com\/2026\/01\/02\/reports-notre-dame-football-promotes-al-washington-linebackers-coach\/\">promoted by Notre Dame to linebackers coach<\/a> earlier Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Partridge has served as the defensive line coach for the Colts since 2024. He has extensive assistant coaching experience at the college level, serving as Pittsburgh\u2019s co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach from 2018-2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Prior to joining Pitt\u2019s staff, he served as head coach at Florida Atlantic from 2014-2016.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to Rittenberg, Partridge previously worked alongside current Notre Dame defensive coordinator Chris Ash at several schools, including Wisconsin, Arkansas and Drake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WNDU.
