\u201cThere\u2019s always going to be more, but I think we have a good foundation of what we\u2019re trying to build as a team and as a culture in the building, and how we want to play, and what our brand is,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
Little has been good about the Jets\u2019 offense this year. Entering Week 18, New York ranks 28th in points per game (18.3) and yards per game (272.4), while ranking dead last in passing yards per game (145.8). The Jets also rank 26th on third down (34.7%) and 31st in the red zone (43.2%).<\/p>\n
However, it is challenging to fairly evaluate Engstrand\u2019s performance as a play-caller this year, given the lack of execution at quarterback. Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook routinely missed receivers that were schemed open by the 43-year-old OC.<\/p>\n
Engstrand is expected to return in 2026.
