CINCINNATI \u2014 Myles Garrett has one last chance to set the NFL sack record Sunday in Cincinnati, and he has no doubt he\u2019ll get it.<\/p>\n
He needs one to break the record of 22.5 held by the Giants\u2019 Michael Strahan and the Steelers\u2019 T.J. Watt. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy confidence hasn\u2019t waivered,\u201d Garrett said Friday. \u201cI\u2019m fully confident that it will come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Given that the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers held him without a sack during the Browns 13-6 victory last week, has he contemplated not getting it?<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. You don\u2019t think about what\u2019s going to go wrong in your life, do you?\u201d he said. \u201cJust think about how to make it go right.\u201d<\/p>\n
Besides, Garrett has already sacked Joe Burrow 11 times in nine meetings, tied with Lamar Jackson for most against any QB. In the opener, a 17-16 Browns loss, Garrett sacked him twice.<\/p>\n
\u201cWould I have known (he\u2019s at the top)?\u201d Garrett said. \u201cAbsolutely. I\u2019ve seen his face on the ground looking up at me saying, \u2018Hi, Myles, and, hi, Joe\u2019 too many times. So yeah, I figured he\u2019d be at the top.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jackson caught up with a four-sack game in the Browns\u2019 loss to the Ravens Nov. 16.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, Lamar recently had to pick up some slack,\u201d Garrett said. \u201cHe\u2019s made me miss a little bit more than everybody else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bengals coach Zac Taylor pushed back on Garrett\u2019s assertion that the Steelers put preventing him from getting the record ahead of winning. They had a chance to clinch the AFC North with a victory. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t agree with that,\u201d Taylor said Wednesday. \u201cEvery team goes in there with Myles Garrett on every single play, \u2018what are we going to do with him?\u2019 Pittsburgh was trying to win the game. The way to do that is you try to limit Myles Garrett. You watch every tape. Teams are doing everything they can to limit his effectiveness. Every run, pass, screen, naked. It all has 95 in mind. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur plan has never been any different. You want to limit his effectiveness. He makes as much of an impact on the game as any player in the NFL. Period. You think about 95 in your head every second of every week you\u2019re playing the Cleveland Browns. You have to be ready for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burrow, who\u2019s been sacked 15 times this season for 38th in the NFL, has no plans to avoid Garrett setting the record at all costs. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not gonna go out of my way to not let him get the record\u2026 I\u2019m gonna go play football,\u201d Burrow said Wednesday. \u201cThere are going to be situations where a sack is the best of the bad outcomes of that play.\u201d<\/p>\n
Garrett said the record doesn\u2019t have to look a certain way, although he\u2019s made it clear he wants it to come in a victory. <\/p>\n
\u201cNo. They all count,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I don\u2019t care if I run his ass out of bounds. However he gets got, he gets got.\u201d<\/p>\n
