The Chicago Bears<\/a> joined the extension parade as it was announced that recently acquired guard Joe Thuney is receiving a two-year extension. As reported by multiple outlets, Thuney’s extension will pay him $17.5 million per year, and he will receive $33.5 million fully guaranteed with this new deal.<\/p>\n

In an effort to protect franchise quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears made multiple moves to address the offensive line, including trading for Joe Thuney. Williams was sacked a team-record 68 times last season. The compensation to get the services of Thuney, who has helped protect Patrick Mahomes over the last four seasons, cost the team a 2026 fourth-round selection.<\/p>\n

That move seems like a great move for the organization. The team will have a whole new interior offensive line with Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman joining Thuney. Overall, the Bears organization and GM Ryan Poles have made a concerted effort to give their young quarterback all the tools to be successful, including a pair of young standout wide receivers and a new tight end.<\/p>\n

The Bears and Joe Thuney will begin the preseason against the Miami Dolphins<\/a>; the date is still TBD, and the regular season kicks off with a divisional showdown on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings<\/a> at Soldier Field.<\/p>\n
