SALT LAKE CITY \u2014 University of Utah football has named Kevin McGiven as its new offensive coordinator, head coach Morgan Scalley announced Saturday.<\/p>\n
McGiven comes to Salt Lake City after a standout 2025 campaign calling plays at Utah State and boasts 25 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 17 seasons coordinating offenses and mentoring quarterbacks.<\/p>\n
Scalley was glowing in his thoughts of McGiven \u2014 calling him \u201cone of the brightest offensive minds in college football\u201d with a scheme and mentality that fits exactly what Utah wants to do on offense.<\/p>\n

McGiven\u2019s r\u00e9sum\u00e9 is diverse. The Orem, Utah native has coached at stops at San Jos\u00e9 State and Oregon State to multiple stints at Utah State, where his offenses consistently ranked among the Mountain West\u2019s best.<\/p>\n
In 2025, he mentored Utah State\u2019s offense into a productive unit, helping mentor quarterback Bryson Barnes into one of the Mountain West\u2019s top dual-threat signal callers.<\/p>\n
