A few different reports have said that Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> head coach Zac Taylor is safe.<\/p>\n

In fact, the latest says that support from key Bengals will save Taylor<\/a>, meaning Joe Burrow, Ja\u2019Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.<\/p>\n

More notable now is whether defensive coordinator Al Golden is safe.<\/p>\n

NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero<\/a> classified Taylor as \u201cnot going anywhere,\u201d then wrote this about Golden:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is what Cincinnati will do on the defensive side of the ball. Al Golden\u2019s unit has been a source of frustration all season. Yet the Bengals<\/a>‘ defense has slowly and steadily improved, hitting pause on any discussions of moving on. Taylor and the team\u2019s brass will go through their decisions once the season ends.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is easy to dismiss the idea that Golden goes anywhere. If he wasn\u2019t let go after a historically bad stretch in Teryl Austin-like fashion, the Bengals probably aren\u2019t going to move on after his young defense showed signs of life down the stretch here.<\/p>\n

Still, there\u2019s the whole issue of accountability. Burrow\u2019s been sending messages<\/a> about the team not being good enough. Chase did the same thing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Considering it feels like effective general manager Duke Tobin can do no wrong in Cincinnati, one has to wonder where that accountability might fall for a poorly constructed roster that didn\u2019t perform.<\/p>\n

While it seems unlikely, perhaps Golden’s seat is warmer than Taylor\u2019s heading into the offseason next week.<\/p>\n
