Following Saturday night\u2019s disappointing 13-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks<\/a> (14-3) at Levi\u2019s Stadium, the 49ers (12-5) received encouraging news regarding star quarterback Brock Purdy<\/a>, who was slow to get up after being hit hard during San Francisco\u2019s final offensive snap.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrock Purdy had a stinger there at the end,\u201d 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan<\/a> told reporters postgame. \u201cHe would\u2019ve returned.\u201d<\/p>\n

With 1:51 remaining in the fourth quarter, Purdy was sandwiched by two Seahawks defensive linemen on fourth-and-6, leaving his thumb bloody, his shoulder sore and his pass intended for tight end George Kittle<\/a> short.<\/p>\n

Calmly, though, Purdy told reporters postgame that he also \u201cthinks\u201d he sustained a stinger, seemingly not too concerned about his status.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel good,\u201d Purdy said. \u201cIt\u2019s just — I got hit, and the left shoulder sort of lit up. I feel good right now. We\u2019ll see how I feel tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite squandering an opportunity at a bye week and the NFC\u2019s top playoff seed, Purdy and the 49ers do have Sunday off, which should be a nice change, particularly for the recovering signal-caller.<\/p>\n

Purdy finished the defeat 19 of 27 passing for 127 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. It was far from the 26-year-old\u2019s finest performance; however, the same can be said<\/a> for the banged-up 49ers as a team.<\/p>\n

Shanahan admired Purdy\u2019s fight while acknowledging that San Francisco left much to be desired.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018I\u2019ll see when I watch the tape,\u201d Shanahan prefaced about the quarterback\u2019s outing. \u201cI thought Brock battled out there \u2026 I thought he battled throughout the game. I know he was under duress, which we had a feeling would be the case going into the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut none of us played good enough to win. I\u2019m not disappointed at all in Brock. I thought he battled like he always does and did some good things.\u201d<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s any silver lining<\/a> the 49ers can take from the loss, it\u2019s that Purdy appears good to go for next week\u2019s wild-card round.<\/p>\n
