{"id":654107,"date":"2026-01-04T20:38:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T20:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/654107\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T20:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T20:38:14","slug":"49ers-gm-john-lynch-completely-loses-it-after-massive-seahawks-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/654107\/","title":{"rendered":"49ers GM John Lynch completely loses it after massive Seahawks play"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Lynch didn\u2019t hide his emotions. <\/p>\n<p>The 49ers general manager was irate after his team allowed the Seahawks to convert a 3rd-and-17 during the third quarter of their primetime clash Saturday night in Santa Clara.<\/p>\n<p>The 49ers trailed 10-3 at the time and let Kenneth Walker evade multiple would-be tacklers and pick up 19 yards for a first down on a run.<\/p>\n<p>The ESPN broadcast showed Lynch fuming in his booth, putting his hands on his head and yelling in anger. <\/p>\n<p>The drive eventually resulted in a field goal for the Seahawks, extending their lead to 13-3 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/03\/sports\/seahawks-stifle-rival-49ers-to-grab-nfcs-no-1-seed-for-playoffs\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the final score of the game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The win meant the Seahawks won the NFC West and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC.<\/p>\n<p>John Lynch reacts during the 49ers-Seahawks game on Jan. 3, 2025. X @UnderdogNFL<\/p>\n<p>And with the loss, the 49ers will take either the No. 5 or 6 seed in the NFC, depending on the result of the Rams\u2019 clash against the Cardinals on Sunday night. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re ready for it,\u201d 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. \u201cIt would have been nice to have a home game here \u2014 or both home games \u2014 and get a bye. But it is what it is. This team\u2019s been through a lot this year. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s definitely a point of pride that we can have at least one home playoff game in front of the 12s,\u201d Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said postgame. \u201cThey\u2019ve been dynamite this year.
