The Buffalo Bills<\/a> have had their eyes on the playoff prize for a few weeks now, but first, there was a finale.<\/p>\n

And not just the one for the 2025 season schedule.<\/p>\n

The Bills (12-5) closed up shop at what will likely go down as the final game played at the current Highmark Stadium. The team’s new home is set to open in 2026.<\/p>\n

And in great fashion, it was capped off perfectly by Buffalo standards with a 35-8 blowout win against the New York Jets (3-14).<\/p>\n

With that, here are Bills Wire’s<\/a> five takeaways from the Bills’ win over the Jets in Week 18:<\/p>\n

Allen, starters sit<\/p>\n

Despite the mentioned emotion with this being the final outing for the Bills at their current home stadium for 52 years, head coach Sean McDermott decided to be sensible.<\/p>\n

Instead of pushing out his starting players for a lengthy spell before the playoffs, most either sat the entire game or just played one snap like quarterback Josh Allen (so he could get credit for starting the game).<\/p>\n

Obviously, that was all that was required to beat up on the Jets.<\/p>\n

Trubisky in a pinch<\/p>\n

While we might need a bit of a grain of salt here with how poor the Jets are, despite sitting on the bench all year, backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky did flash some nice play on Sunday.<\/p>\n

While playing alongside many backup players like himself, Trubisky was 22-for-29 passing with 259 yards and an impressive four touchdown passes.<\/p>\n

In addition to Trubisky (and no knock on the defense, the Jets are even worse on offense), running back Ray Davis made a case for touches as well. Davis showed he can spell James Cook at any time by putting up his first-career 100-plus yard outing. Davis finished with 151 yards on the ground.<\/p>\n

Unfortunate injuries<\/p>\n

Despite letting plenty of players get some rest to avoid injury, the Bills still managed to find a few.<\/p>\n

All in all, the game was all about the celebrations of football in Orchard Park throughout the past half-century. The Bills honored players and teams of the past and fans stayed throughout the entire contest.<\/p>\n

Now to finish with the important stuff: The 2026 NFL postseason. The Bills are now locked in as the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff picture.<\/p>\n
