Curt Cignetti has put the Indiana<\/a> Hoosiers on the map as one of the premier programs in college football and right now they’re considered by many to be the front-runner to win a national championship this season.<\/p>\n

Just two years into his job as the head coach at Indiana, Cignetti has become one of the best head coaches in the nation. Not only are the Hoosiers winning, they’re also becoming a destination that top-tier players want to play.<\/p>\n

For a school that has been a basketball school for ages, the football program is starting to take over. That can be seen by the amount of success that Cignetti and the coaching staff have had in the NCAA transfer portal already.<\/p>\n

Coming into Monday’s edition of the portal, Indiana had already secured quite a few big names. Among those players are quarterback Josh Hoover, wide receiver Nick Marsh, Notre Dame standout Joshua Burnham, and running back Turbo Richard.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Cignetti added yet another big win to his transfer portal checklist. He was able to land a commitment from a player who could become an incredibly big part of the team’s defense next season.<\/p>\n

According to a report from On3 Sports college football insider Hayes Fawcett, the Hoosiers have received a commitment from Kansas State edge rusher Chiddi Obiazor.<\/p>\n

“BREAKING: Kansas State transfer EDGE Chiddi Obiazor has Committed to Indiana, he tells @On3Sports,” Fawcett wrote on X<\/a>. “The 6\u20196 275 EDGE totaled 47 tackles, 6 sacks, and 4 PD in his time with the Wildcats. He\u2019ll have 2 years of eligibility left.”<\/p>\n

Simply looking at the surface details, Obiazor is an intimidating presence at 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds. He has a high motor for a player of his size and fits the mold that Cignetti has been targeting on the edge defensively.<\/p>\n

Throughout his college career to this point, he has shown an ability to get after the quarterback. He has also been good against the run at Kansas State.<\/p>\n

Originally, Obiazor was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class according to 247 Sports<\/a>. He was ranked as the No. 129 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 1,196 overall player in the nation.<\/p>\n

Now, he’ll have the opportunity to become a key part of an Indiana defense that is hoping to be a yearly national championship contender. At least from the early success in the portal, the Hoosiers are going to be a top threat again in 2026.<\/p>\n
