AARON RODGERS is edging closer to joining up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. <\/p>\n

The four-time NFL MVP left the New York Jets<\/a> in February but has yet to join a new team.<\/p>\n

The former Jets QB has been speaking with the Steelers for over a monthCredit: Getty<\/p>\n

Rodgers<\/a> has kept his cards close to his chest after unexpectedly becoming a free agent. <\/p>\n

The 41-year-old met with the Steelers last month.<\/p>\n

And owner Art Rooney II confirmed on Friday the star QB “does want to come” to the franchise. <\/p>\n

“We\u2019re still kind of getting the same signals that we\u2019ve been getting recently,” Rooney told Steelers Nation Radio. <\/p>\n

“He does want to come here, so I do think we may get word soon.”<\/p>\n

The Steelers<\/a> added a quarterback on Day 3 of the NFL Draft<\/a> earlier this week. <\/p>\n

Pittsburgh selected Ohio State QB\u00a0Will Howard\u00a0with the No. 185 overall pick. <\/p>\n

Howard had a 44-start college career but is expected to be behind Rodgers and Mason Rudolph in the depth chart during his rookie year.<\/p>\n

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin<\/a> spoke on the Rodgers situation after drafting Howard .<\/p>\n

Tomlin claimed the club has had “good conversations” with the former Green Bay star.<\/p>\n

“[Rodgers is] certainly a possibility but, you know, I’m not gonna forecast the if’s and the when’s regarding not only him but any potential free agent,” Tomlin told NFL Network’s Rich Eisen.<\/p>\n

“Just rest assured we’ve had really productive talks with him.<\/p>\n

“I’ve enjoyed having really productive talks with him and getting to know him.”<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Rodgers opened up on his release from the Jets after two disappointing seasons. <\/p>\n

He revealed he had flown across the country to meet with new head coach Aaron Glenn – only to be cut. <\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve flown across the country and 20 seconds in, he goes and he leans to the edge of his seat and says, \u2018So you want to play football?\u2019” Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“And I\u2019m like, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m interested.\u2019 <\/p>\n

“And he was like, \u2018We\u2019re going in a different direction at quarterback.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn\u2019t think it was a possibility.<\/p>\n
