After the Colts became \u201cthe first team in three decades to miss the playoffs after an 8-2 start,\u201d new principal owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon is \u201ctrying to commiserate with the fan base in Indianapolis,\u201d according to Joel A. Erickson of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR. Irsay-Gordon said Monday, \u201cYou\u2019re right to be frustrated with how the latter part of our season went. I\u2019m pissed. We are all pissed.\u201d Erickson writes when Irsay-Gordon \u201ctook control of the team after her father\u2019s death in late May, she made it clear that the Colts have not reached the franchise\u2019s standard of excellence.\u201d Irsay-Gordon \u201cstopped short Monday of saying\u201d GM Chris Ballard and coach Shane Steichen\u2019s jobs are \u201cdependent on a playoff appearance in 2026, but she also indicated she wants to see tangible rewards from the Colts next season.\u201d Irsay-Gordon said, \u201cWe have been very clear with Chris and Shane that giving them another opportunity means the sense of urgency for them to deliver and perform has never been higher.\u201d Erickson notes the Colts \u201chave not made the playoffs in five seasons, haven\u2019t won a playoff game since 2018 and haven\u2019t won the AFC South since 2014, prior to Chris Ballard\u2019s arrival.\u201d Irsay-Gordon added, \u201cThere were moments during the season that gave me reason to believe we can achieve sustained success under Chris and Shane\u2019s leadership.
