The NFL Wild Card Weekend matchups<\/a> have been set for less than a day, but pundits already are making their predictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy believes Philadelphia will beat the 49ers<\/a> on Sunday,\u00a0he said on\u00a0the \u201cSpeakeasy\u201d podcast<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[The 49ers] will not win this game, and it won\u2019t be pretty,\u201d McCoy said. \u201cWe\u2019re\u00a0going to beat the hell out of them.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

McCoy pointed to the sturdy Eagles defense to give them the edge over the 49ers. Philadelphia’s\u00a0defense, according to McCoy, is similar in strength to a Seahawks defense that held the 49ers to just three points in San Francisco’s 13-3 loss<\/a> on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strap up and get to the quarterback,\u201d McCoy said of the Eagles\u2019 pass rush. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0going to be a night in hell for [Christian McCaffrey] and little\u00a0[Brock] Purdy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Seattle pass rush was a problem for Purdy. He was sacked a season-high three times in Saturday\u2019s loss.\u00a0While the Eagles rank in the middle of the NFL with 42.0 sacks this season, giving Purdy more time to\u00a0operate\u00a0will be paramount for the 49ers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

McCoy\u2019s co-host, former NFL player and current analyst Emmanuel Acho, said the Eagles\u2019 lackluster run defense could\u00a0provide\u00a0coach Kyle Shanahan an opportunity to attack.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou saw what the Chicago Bears\u00a0did running the ball to the Eagles\u00a0— field day,\u201d Acho said. \u201cIf you\u00a0don’t\u00a0think that Kyle Shanahan is\u00a0licking his chops —\u00a0fork\u00a0out,\u00a0knife\u00a0out. Somebody\u00a0get\u00a0the\u00a0gravy.\u00a0I’m\u00a0going to town.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

After the 49ers\u2019 loss Saturday, Shanahan lamented his team\u2019s inability to get the run game going<\/a>. That will surely be a focus for the\u00a0coach on\u00a0Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There\u2019s\u00a0still a lot of time to go until Sunday\u2019s game, and there will be plenty of time for more predictions and takes.\u00a0But if McCoy is correct about one thing, there will surely be a focus on Purdy and McCaffrey\u2019s performance in the playoff matchup.\u00a0<\/p>\n
