KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – For the first time in more than a decade, the Chiefs season is over before the playoffs kickoff.<\/p>\n
Now, all eyes are on Travis Kelce and his upcoming decision: stay another year, or call it a career?<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll let that be a decision I\u2019ll make with my family, friends, the Chiefs organization when the time comes,\u201d Kelce said after the Chiefs\u2019 Christmas loss to Denver at Arrowhead.<\/p>\n
With the season now over, the clock is ticking.<\/p>\n
In his end of year Zoom press conference Monday, head coach Andy Reid addressed if the team was eyeing a date for Kelce\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a little bit of time before all of that stuff really needs to take place,\u201d Reid said. \u201cI\u2019m not trying to avoid your question here but that\u2019s what\u2019s real right now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kelce previously told reporters in November he wanted to give the team \u201ca good opportunity to know whether I come back or not\u201d before free agency ramps up. <\/p>\n
\u201cI know everybody wants the answer right this minute but it\u2019s something that you\u2019ve got to go through,\u201d Reid said. There are a lot of variables there but we all love Trav (Kelce) so we know that. Trav can still play and I\u2019m not questioning that part or any of it.”<\/p>\n
Kelce led the Chiefs with 851 receiving yards this season. <\/p>\n
He finished the 2025 season by making even more NFL history, reaching 13,000 career receiving yards against Las Vegas Sunday. He\u2019s just the third tight end to ever reach the milestone and is the fastest in NFL history to do so.<\/p>\n
