At the Spring League Meetings this week, NFL owners will discuss a resolution<\/a> that could open the door for NFL players to compete in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

If passed, Resolution MC-1 and G-4 would authorize the NFL\u2019s Management Council to negotiate the terms for participation \u2014 including injury protection, insurance, medical standards, and scheduling \u2014 and allow one player per team (plus each club\u2019s designated International Player) to try out for Olympic flag football.<\/p>\n

Whispers of this possibility have been floating for years, growing louder when the NFL made flag football a central part of the Pro Bowl Games. And now, it looks like things are getting real.<\/p>\n

Cowboys<\/a> wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has already been named on multiple fan and media-created wish lists as an ideal candidate for Team USA. When asked about it last summer, he kept it humble<\/a> saying, \u201cI\u2019d rather have the Lombardi, but I\u2019m OK with the gold medal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lamb\u2019s elite route-running, burst, and evasiveness are tailor-made for a non-contact format where getting open is everything.<\/p>\n

But if there\u2019s room for only one Cowboy, Micah Parsons might have something to say.<\/p>\n

Back in August, Parsons tweeted, \u201cI need to find a way to get in the Olympics by 2028.\u201d Moments later, he followed up with: \u201cI\u2019m taking a break after 2027 to prep for the Olympics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Was he joking? Maybe. But if there\u2019s a competitive stage, Micah wants in. And if flag football becomes a real shot at Olympic gold, you better believe he\u2019ll be in the mix.<\/p>\n

Of course, not everyone\u2019s excited. Some long-time flag football athletes, many of whom have spent years building the sport internationally, aren\u2019t thrilled<\/a> at the idea of NFL stars swooping in and taking roster spots. But let\u2019s be honest: when other sports like basketball tried to go \u201cpurist\u201d without their top pros, the results were\u2026 let\u2019s say underwhelming.<\/p>\n

The Olympics are about showcasing the best. And whether it\u2019s tackle or flag, America breeds athletes built for this game. The NFL knows it. The IOC knows it. And every exec riding the wave of global expansion knows it too.<\/p>\n

So no, this move isn\u2019t about fairness. It\u2019s about dominance, diplomacy, and dollars.<\/p>\n

And if Team USA ever falls short in flag football, it won\u2019t be because the decision-makers, with all that’s at stake, played it safe and left the stars at home. This is a question of “how,” not “if.”<\/p>\n

America invented football. The rest of the world might love it now, but in 2028, we plan to own it.<\/p>\n
