And everybody loves Houston. I will just remind you that Mike Tomlin’s been terrible on short week Thursday games, but Mike Tomlin’s been virtually unbeatable on Monday night football games,” Cowherd said, according to audio via FS1. “Steelers as a home dog with the motivator Mike Tomlin against the Houston Texans? Do not be shocked if Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh, 42 years old, finds himself advancing.

“I love Houston, but Monday night Tomlin is magical.”

Yes, the Texans matchup looks rather lopsided on paper for the Steelers. Houston’s defense is one of the best in the NFL, and its pass rush is suffocating under head coach DeMeco Ryans.

But Houston’s offense has been up and down, and quarterback C.J. Stroud has made some bad mistakes this season, which could bode well for the Steelers’ defense. Pittsburgh is healthy on that side of the football again and had been playing some good football until some costly mistakes against the Ravens nearly ended the season in ugly fashion.

But now, that unit gets a reprieve against Houston.

The Steelers are underdogs entering the Wild Card matchup, which is a bit disrespectful on their home field. The Texans are a great team though, and many seem to be buying them as potential Super Bowl contenders. There’s not much belief that the Steelers could be that, so it makes some sense.

Pittsburgh has the Monday night mojo in its favor though. The Steelers have won 23 straight Monday Night Football games dating back to Oct. 14, 1991, against the New York Giants. They just don’t lose at home on Monday Night Football, period. They won every home Monday night game under Bill Cowher, and they’ve done the same under Tomlin.

The Steelers won their lone Monday Night Football game this season against the visiting Miami Dolphins, so the good vibes remain in the Steel City. They’ll need all the help they can get next week against the Texans. Maybe that same priest can come back and bless the field once again, too.

After a wild win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football to win the AFC North and…

[2056
6405,7,221,253,2368,1255,16166,6,57,222,18359
0":"post-657650","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-houston-texans","8":"tag-colin-cowherd","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-houston","11":"tag-houston-texans","12":"tag-houstontexans","13":"tag-mike-tomlin","14":"tag-monday-night-football","15":"tag-nfl","16":"tag-pittsburgh-steelers","17":"tag-texans","18":"tag-the-herd-with-colin-cowherd
["GET
