KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided a brief but positive update on the status of quarterback Patrick Mahomes during an end of season Zoom call with reporters.<\/p>\n
Reid said Mahomes remains in Kansas City and likely will throughout the offseason as he attacks rehab with Chiefs assistant athletic trainer Julie Frymyer.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst of all, he\u2019s doing great for just being three weeks out or so,\u201d Reid said Monday after the Chiefs closed the season 6-11. \u201cHe\u2019ll go ahead and most likely stay up here for the majority of the time rehabbing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mahomes tore the ACL in his left knee on a play late in the fourth quarter of a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.<\/p>\n
Without him, the Chiefs offense scored 34 points in three losses to close the season, falling to the No. 9 selection in the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe and Julie (Frymyer), she\u2019s the person that does all of that — our PT,\u201d Reid said of Mahomes\u2019 rehab, \u201cso, he has a lot of trust in her, and he\u2019s been in there grinding and that\u2019s what I can tell you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reid said Mahomes continual work with the rehab will be rigorous throughout the offseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat will just continue until we start again,\u201d Reid said. \u201cNot that he won\u2019t take a break here or there, but right now he\u2019s in that early process where you have to really hit it hard, and it\u2019s not necessarily a fun thing to do every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
