Travis Kelce retirement talk continue to swirl as Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has provided an update on his player.<\/p>\n

The three-time Super Bowl-winning coach claimed that the 36-year-old American football receiver still has the ability to play at the top level if he decides to continue for another season.<\/p>\n

The comments come just days before the play-offs are set to take place, with the Kansas City Chiefs not being among the contenders for the first time in over a decade after a 6-11 record.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs’ absence from the playoffs marks their first failure to reach the postseason since 2014, ending a remarkable run of dominance.<\/p>\n

Kelce, who looked particularly downbeat after missing the postseason, has completed 13 years in the NFL but has been criticised for his off-pitch antics, with fans accusing the player of focusing on his personal life. <\/p>\n

The tight end announced his engagement to Taylor Swift in August 2025 after dating since mid-2023.<\/p>\n

He has also refused to rule out retirement, avoiding speaking to the media post-game, leaving fans waiting.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia’s comprehensive 40-22 demolition of Kansas City at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans last February denied Kelce and Reid a historic third consecutive championship.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media, Reid addressed the situation.<\/p>\n

He said: “We’ll get to all that. Right now, you’ve got a little bit of time before all that stuff really needs to take place. I’m not trying to avoid your question, but that’s what’s real right now.<\/p>\n

“I know everybody wants an answer right this minute. It’s something that you’ve got to go through, there are a lot of variables there, but we all love Travis, we know that.<\/p>\n

“Travis can still play and I’m not questioning that part or any of it. I just know there’s time, it’s the same way as last year. You’ve got a little bit of time there to figure everything out.” <\/p>\n

On Sunday night, Kelce told reporters he <\/a>will “get close to the family and figure things out” as he weighs up the decision.<\/p>\n

When asked in the locker room about his timeline for making a decision, Kelce replied: “First things first, I just love this team. I’m proud of the way we finished this, even though it ended the way it did.<\/p>\n

“Guys still showed up. Gave it their all and that’s all you can ask for, man. <\/p>\n

“I’ve got so much love for this team, this organisation and the people here, so I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow, get close to the family and figure things out.”<\/p>\n

He added: “Who knows? Either it hits me quick or I’ve got to take some time. Last year was a little bit easier. <\/p>\n

“I think I knew right away I wanted to give this one a shot. I don’t know. We’ll see.’<\/p>\n

Asked if he felt he achieved what he wanted to when he decided to return this season, Kelce replied: “Obviously we didn’t do as well as a team but I feel like I came into the season prepared and ready to rock and roll with the right intentions.<\/p>\n
