{"id":659038,"date":"2026-01-06T18:06:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T18:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/659038\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T18:06:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T18:06:14","slug":"what-do-you-think-of-the-chiefs-moving-its-training-hq-to-kansas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/659038\/","title":{"rendered":"What do you think of the Chiefs moving its training HQ to Kansas?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting in 2031, Kansas \u2014 and Johnson County, in part \u2014 will be home to the Kansas City Chiefs.<\/p>\n<p>The team and state officials <a href=\"https:\/\/johnsoncountypost.com\/2025\/12\/22\/kansas-city-chiefs-wyandotte-county-276623\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unveiled the momentous news<\/a> at a press conference last month, just before the holidays.<\/p>\n<p>The team plans to build a new $3 billion domed stadium in Wyandotte County, as well as relocate its headquarters and training facility to Olathe, which is expected to cost an additional $1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s costs are being divided 60-40 between the state and team, with Kansas pledging at least $2.4 billion in various tax incentives and public funds for the project. (Some economists say the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcur.org\/sports\/2026-01-05\/chiefs-move-kansas-cost-tax-incentives-star-bonds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">actual long-term impacts on public coffers<\/a> could be even higher.)<\/p>\n<p>Olathe Mayor John Bacon called the move a \u201cgame changer,\u201d and Olathe Chamber of Commerce CEO Tim McKee said having the team\u2019s HQ in town will be \u201crevolutionary\u201d for local business and Olathe schools, which are promised benefits, including use of a new stadium of some kind.<\/p>\n<p>But much of the public discussion about the project since its unveiling in December has been on what Kansas is giving up to draw the Chiefs across the state line and whether that is worth it.<\/p>\n<p>Now that we\u2019ve all had more time to digest the news, we want to know what you think.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0recently did something similar,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/johnsoncountypost.com\/2025\/12\/21\/royals-reader-poll-results-276538\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">asking our readers about the possibility of the Royals<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnsoncountypost.com\/2025\/12\/21\/royals-reader-poll-results-276538\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0moving to Overland Park.<\/a> Though unscientific, it gave us a broad sense of where Johnson Countians\u2019 heads were at when it came to that team\u2019s deliberations.<\/p>\n<p>We hope this survey gives us the same kind of gut-check information about the Chiefs\u2019 pending relocation.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see three questions below.<\/p>\n<p>The first is a quick multiple-choice question that allows you to share a big-picture view of where you fall on the Chiefs stadium deal, yea or nay or somewhere in between.<\/p>\n<p>After that, readers can weigh in with an open-ended response, telling us more about why you feel the way you do.
