A decade after the Legion of Boom\u2019s historic run, the Seattle Seahawks once again have the NFL\u2019s top-ranked scoring defense.<\/p>\n

The Seahawks allowed a league-low 17.2 points per game<\/a> this season, finishing just ahead of the Houston Texans at 17.4 points per game. Propelled by that dominant defense, nicknamed \u201cThe Dark Side<\/a>,\u201d the Seahawks finished with a franchise-best 14-3 record and enter the playoffs as the NFC\u2019s No. 1 seed.<\/p>\n

It marks the fifth time in franchise history that Seattle has led the NFL in scoring defense. The previous four times came during the Legion of Boom\u2019s dominant four-year run from 2012-15.<\/p>\n

How does Mike Macdonald\u2019s 2025 Seahawks defense compare to the other four top-ranked scoring defenses in franchise history?<\/p>\n

To be fair, the Legion of Boom-era defenses are a nearly impossible standard to match. The legendary 2013 unit was on a short list of the best defenses in NFL history. And while the 2014 group took a while to get going, it went nuclear down the stretch, allowing just 39 points combined over its final six regular-season games.<\/p>\n

As great as the 2025 Seahawks\u2019 defense has been, it\u2019s not quite at that historic, all-time great level \u2013 at least, not yet.<\/p>\n
