Propelled by that dominant defense, nicknamed “The Dark Side,” the Seahawks finished with a franchise-best 14-3 record and enter the playoffs as the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

It marks the fifth time in franchise history that Seattle has led the NFL in scoring defense. The previous four times came during the Legion of Boom’s dominant four-year run from 2012-15.

How does Mike Macdonald’s 2025 Seahawks defense compare to the other four top-ranked scoring defenses in franchise history?

To be fair, the Legion of Boom-era defenses are a nearly impossible standard to match. The legendary 2013 unit was on a short list of the best defenses in NFL history. And while the 2014 group took a while to get going, it went nuclear down the stretch, allowing just 39 points combined over its final six regular-season games.

As great as the 2025 Seahawks’ defense has been, it’s not quite at that historic, all-time great level – at least, not yet.

But nevertheless, let’s take a look at how Macdonald’s crew
