The Cleveland Browns have requested permission to interview Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde for the open head-coaching position, NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport reported on social media<\/a> Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Who Seahawks are most at risk of losing OC Kubiak to<\/a><\/p>\n

Durde is the second current Seahawks coordinator to generate interest as a head coach. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has reportedly been requested for interviews by four of the seven teams<\/a> with head-coach vacancies.<\/p>\n

Durde, 45, is in his second season with the Seahawks. Under head coach and defensive guru Mike Macdonald, Durde helped lead a defense that allowed a league-low 17.2 points per game this season. Seattle also allowed the sixth-fewest total yards (285.6), third-fewest rushing yards (91.6) and 10th-fewest passing yards (19.9) per game.<\/p>\n

Prior to arriving with the Seahawks, Durde was the defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys from 2021-23 and spent five years with the Atlanta Falcons under former Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn from 2016-20. He began his stint in Atlanta as a coaching intern before serving as a defensive assistant from 2018-19 and outside linebackers coach in 2020.<\/p>\n

A native of Middlesex, England, Durde became the NFL\u2019s first British-born full-time coach when he was promoted by Atlanta in 2018 and the first to be a coordinator when he was hired by the Seahawks last year. There has never been a British-born head coach in NFL history.<\/p>\n

The Browns fired head coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday following a 5-12 campaign. The franchise has just two winnings campaigns (2020, 2023) over the past 18 seasons.<\/p>\n
