Both the Titans and Giants got a head start on their coaching searches by firing their previous coaches in-season.

Anarumo’s first season in Indianapolis was a mixed bag.

The Colts finished 20th in scoring (24.2 points allowed per game), 23rd in yards (349.8) and 17th in yards per play (5.34), but the passing defense struggled down the stretch after losing defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, cornerback Charvarius Ward and deadline prize Sauce Gardner due to injuries.

Indianapolis improved in almost every number over Gus Bradley’s final season in 2024. Anarumo built a run defense that finished second in the NFL in yards per carry (3.87) and seventh overall (101.9 yards per game), and the Colts finished tied for 10th in the league with 21 takeaways.

But the Colts also gave up 247.9 yards passing per game to finish 31st in the NFL, and a pass rush that produced 26 sacks in its first eight games cratered without Buckner in the middle, recording just 13 sacks over the final nine games to slip to 15th in the NFL.

Joel A.
